Online Science Book for 5th grade – Online Science Book

Where can I find the online textbook for 5th grade Science?
Anybody in Dingeman? I am from Dingeman. I don’t know what brand of Science Books they use there. I am working on my HW. My friend, Sabrina, also needs it. Please, or else I might go to detention. :(

You can be in Savanna Georgia, it doesn’t matter. Publising Companies that publish textbooks do not publish them online for free. Your school has to buy them or the school makes you buy them but in any case they are not free nor are they available for free online. Might want to try and find some of your friends via the telephone or that facebook thing people use and see if your “class mates” or the folks who are in the same class as you can help you out. Finding a free textbook online? Not going to happen.

How Can i Remember Most Of The Things In My Geography Book?
Hi :)

We’re having a geography test next monday, and our teacher told us to read the entir book, wich is around 60 pages. I really wanna do well it’s very important for our overall geography grade because it’s about things we learned all year.

How can i do well in this test? We can’t use any notes or anything. Thanks

As a college tutor, I would like to offer the standard study outline guide I give all of the students I tutor (class subject does not matter on this):

Study no more than 1/2 hour – then take a five minute break and repeat. It’s a proven fact that your mind will not absorb more information than what can be viewed in 50 minutes out of each hour.

Plan to do this in continual rotation, during a 4 hour study period. No more than two periods a day.

Turn off the cell/house phones and any other distractors.

Let your family/friends know that you have the test coming up and will be back around when you have taken it.

Get plenty of rest – your body is on a natural circadian rhythm – when it gets dark – your body needs rest! Don’t stay up late studying, because the chances of you remembering the information correctly, if at all, are greatly reduced.

Don’t skip meals – even keep healthy snacks near you (almonds, fresh fruit, cut up carrots, etc.)

Drink water or limited amounts of juice.

Stay away from sodas and candy – the sugar will throw your blood sugar balance off and leave you even more tired!

As far as the subject: However the teacher has taught you through the course will indicate how and what you need to study for a test. If the focus was on dates and places – maps – treaties – governmental changes – etc. Those you will want to pay closer attention to. Use whatever learning techniques you are comfortable with, but simple index cards turned into flash cards really do work well.

For things that seem a little hard to remember – use an anagram – make up your own from whatever means something to you.

From the math catagory, I remember ‘e’ = 2.718281828459045 … lol Now, that may not mean anything to anyone else. But, 2.7 everyone learns – 1828 is the election date of Andrew Jackson and he spent two terms in office, hence – 1828 1828 the 45 is the half degree of a right angle, then full 90 and the other half 45.

For chemistry sub-shell notation letter designation in order is S, P, D, F and I used Serious, Pupils, Do, Fine.

I’m sure you get the point – whatever you need to remember, you will know something that it can be linked to and then you won’t forget it as easily.

I’ve taught this learning technique to the students I’ve tutored for years. And, happy to say that all of them passed their courses with top grades. I’ve only seen one student of mine actually pass with just a ‘B’ grade and they didn’t start using these help hints until they were over one month into class and had missed a project deadline.

Biggest thing is DON’T panic. You know a lot of what you need to for the test already, so relax and just put it into context.

Best Wishes for the upcoming test and e-mail me if you need to :)

Math Book answers – Math Book

Does anybody know where to go to get Math book answers?
I am in 8th grade and suck at math so i would Love if someone could give me a website where it tells you step by step how to do the problem I am in Geometry and my book is:
CPM Geometry 2nd Edition

I’d suggest Mathway (link in sources). Register there and try out their geometry section. It *used* to be 100% free to get step by step solutions there. However, I think they may now charge a nominal fee for that.

Math Book volume – Math Book

Is or are there book volumes on essential math skills from beginning math to high school math?
I would love to have something like that on hand and in my home instead of having my face planted in front of the computer. Also, I just like books. : )
I’ve been doing research, but there’s nothing that I’ve come by that I like the look of a whole lot.

I want something very professional. :)

When I was in college I took a self taught, self paced, non-credit math course which covered basic math through high school algebra II. I still have the books which are fantastic. They are called Algebra Programmed and there are 4 of them. They are sequential; the first book is basic and they each build on each other, ultimately making algebra pretty easy! The authors are Robert H. Alwin and Robert D. Hackworth. I looked on line and you can order them (very inexpensively) through Amazon.
I highly recommend these books!

Ap Biology Book 9th edition – Biology Book

How do I study and get a 4 or 5 on an Ap Biology test coming up May 9th 2010?
Well, my class has been going slow, we are using a Campbell ap edition Biology 8th edition book and we covered about 40 out of the 55 chapters(and its the 3 weeks til AP biology exam)

i have an ap biology review book that comes along with the the ap book.(Many people recommend to get a cliff or barron ap biology review book, should i get that instead of the one i have as of right now..which is Pearson education Ap* Test Prep series Ap Biology).

oh yeah, how many can i miss to get either a 4 or 5 on the multiple choice….and should i study… i know the plants/animals are 50% of the test. im going to study that the most because it makes the most sense to me rather than the previous materials i have learned.

How do i prepare for a Free response because i am really bad at those. The highest i probably gotten was a 22 to 25 out of 30. maybe less.

any other suggestion, please feel free to list below in your comment

Don’t worry that you haven’t covered every chapter, you’re not expected to. I went to one of the training courses given by the College Board for AP Bio teachers. They told us we should only try to teach 70-80% of what’s on the test, so by that measure, you’re doing great. The most important thing isn’t to have covered EVERYTHING, but to make sure you’ve mastered what you have covered. So, that being said, use your review book to go back over things, especially tougher topics like photosynthesis/respiration and make sure that while you may not know details like being able to rattle off every molecule in the Kreb’s cycle, you know what the point of it is, and what enters and leaves. I’ve not read thru that particular review book, so I can’t say it’s good/bad. My students have recommended the Princeton Review or Cliff Notes books, but if you’ve already got one and it works for you, free is good! I personally tend to think that with Campbell’s, it’s a good book (but dense!), so you can use the chapter summaries and diagrams to review, so an alternative review like video lectures is a better idea. The best I’ve seen is http://www.brightstorm.com/ap/ap-biology My students really like the guy’s explanations of how things work, he explains complex concepts in simple terms yet still in depth and with humor. For your purposes, he’d be good since he often highlights things to mention during the free-response essays to improve your score. He even has a lecture specifically on how to maximize your scores on free response questions. There’s also a bunch of bonus materials, many of which I’ve used as handouts in my own classroom. There’s a free sample (click on the classroom tab) so you can watch and decide for yourself if it’s worth subscribing. Right now, they’re having a 50% off sale/promotion, but I don’t know how long that’s going to last.

About your score, that’s a somewhat hard question to answer. First, by definition, 50% of the people who take the test pass, so a passing grade changes every year depending on the scores of who takes the test. They’re also changing the scoring this year so they no longer subtract a quarter point for wrong answers in the multiple choice. That being said, in previous years, a composite score (after weighting the MC and FRQ portions) between 65%-70% seems to be what they give 5′s, with 4′s for those getting about 50ish% of the possible score. I don’t know how to advise you on your FQ scores, they’re graded on a 10 pt scale, so I’m not sure where your teacher is getting a 22/30 value. Be aware that in May, when you take the test, there will be 4 questions. Based on past tests, typically out of 10, the average score on each essay is between 2 – 4 /10, so if your scores translate to a 7ish out of 10 (w/out knowing your teacher’s source/type of questions, that’s a big assumption), you’ll do fine. I will advise to TRY on every question and fling everything you think may apply to the question, every year, there’s some questions that 20-30% of the test takers don’t even try on. Remember, you don’t have to get a great score, you just have to get a less bad score than 50% of the other test takers to pass. When I show the grading rubrics to my students, sometimes they get pissed at themselves because they didn’t put down the basic/obvious stuff because they thought it was “too obvious” thus costing themselves easy points.
